Wonderful painting, Glory! I love the dynamic arch of the fires.

Artist's Description

One of the reasons I moved to Taos, New Mexico is for the privilege of attending the Christmas Eve ceremony at Taos Pueblo. You are transported to another time with the magical 30' tall bonfires. Because of COVID, the Pueblo had been closed for a couple years... it helped fill the void to paint the feelings I remembered ... Viewers have mentioned seeing the Holy Family and Manger of the Christ Child in the structure of the Mission, and Kachina figures dancing within the bonfires ~ elements I was not consciously including. Priceless. With homage to Richard Alan Nichols.

Through photography, I show you how I see the world, but with painting, I share with you what I feel about it. Primarily using the palette knife technique, values and contrasts allow energies to radiate through light and air. As a viewer, you are then engaged in the resolution of abandonment and order, chaos and serenity. I’m delighted when the viewer sees something in the painting...
