Artist's Description

Along entrance of the Coliseum/Livestock Pavilion at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, built in 1905-06. This three story, brick, wood and steel historic building has experienced few alterations since it was built, and has been the primary stock and horse judging arena at the Fairgrounds for more than 80 years.

Glory Ann Penington

After decades of photographic adventures, including National Geographic featuring my photo of El Salto, I took up oil painting in the wake of a traumatic train derailment in 2016 where I suffered a brain injury. It took three years to overcome vision and PTSD challenges… and then I discovered a deeper expression of creative feeling in this new medium. Through photography, I show you how I see the world, but with painting, I share with you what I feel about it. Primarily using the palette knife technique, values and contrasts allow energies to radiate through light and air. As a viewer, you are then engaged in the resolution of abandonment and order, chaos and serenity. I’m delighted when the viewer sees something in the painting...
